Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationLargemouth are the most abundant species on this lake and come in big sizes because of the 18" size limit. I had a recent guide trip and we managed to catch several big largemouth bass 18-20" using swim jigs, chatterbates and spinnerbaits. Also dark colored flipping jigs.

Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationStarted the morning fishing by the spillway. The bass were up shallow. Saw a big girl swimming by the rocks near the spillway and got her to bite on the wacky worm. Was able to catch another in the new growth of pads and submerged vegetation. The weather got very windy and the bite got tough. Moved to the NW side of the lake and caught a nice one by dragging a jig across a wind blown, rocky point coming off Devil's Island. I wasn't able to fish long because of the wind but the quality of bass was great.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBlade BaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationFish were biting and aggressive despite the recent cold front. If you could find a school it wasn’t uncommon to get a bite every cast for several casts in a row. Key areas were vegetation and pinch points in 3-4’ of water.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRock PileHit the water about 6am today. Water temps started out around 47-49 everywhere I went. Struggled to locate a substantial amount of fish at first. Later on in the day we managed to find some relating to shallow rock after water temps rose up to about 52-53 degrees. Moving baits such as crank baits, chatterbaits, and spinnerbaits seemed to get them to bite.
