Largemouth BassTechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationToday's clients hit Fox Lake, and the wind kept us on our toes all afternoon. We stayed mobile, targeting weed edges and letting the wind dictate our approach. Throughout the day, we constantly adjusted by switching swim jig colors, weights, and trailers to stay on the fish. We rotated between 1/4-ounce and 3/8-ounce swim jigs, experimenting with a variety of colors including Black & Blue, Money Craw, Dirty Craw, Sexy Shad, White, and other forage-matching patterns. We paired them with CrushCity trailers, Rage Craws, and Speed Craws to find the right combination. The adjustments paid off. From 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM, the action stayed steady, and my clients put a lot of largemouth bass in the boat. Most importantly, they had a great time on the water and learned how small changes can make a big difference when conditions are challenging. Another great day chasing bass on Fox Lake!

Largemouth BassTechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksWas fishing up shallow around docks and rocks in calm areas out of the wind early in the morning. Swimming a googan squad grass hero jig in their blue gill color with the crush city clean up craw as the trailer along the bottom I would hit a rock and pop it up and twitch my rod and get bit. I would cast parallel with the docks and slow roll it while twitching it to flare the skirt and catch a few.

Northern PikeTechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationDespite 25 mph winds, 94° heat, and whitecaps on the lake, the fish were still willing to bite! We had a board full of northerns, a few bass, and some crappie to show for it. We tried to target some walleyes, but for whatever reason, they just didn’t want to cooperate today—which is perfectly fine, because the rest of the action more than made up for it. We tested out all the new casting gear, and it performed flawlessly. The clients were very happy with both the equipment and the overall experience. We focused on transition areas, gravel bottoms, and some clay patches, and also spent some time working the weeds. Every spot gave us something different to think about, making it a truly interesting and dynamic day on the water. The group did a fantastic job out there, and I’m already looking forward to guiding them again. Hopefully, the lake continues to fish as well as it did today!

Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationThe fishing was slower then expected, so for the clients to catch fish we used senkos and fished really slow. They managed to boat some nice largemouth bass.

Largemouth BassTechniqueStructure JigsSeasonSummerStructureLaydownsI took 1st out of 37 in a local kayak tournament fishing a docks, wood lay downs, and shallow grass patches after a cold front. Ended catching around 15 bass with top 5 going 89” in length. Most fish were post spawn with still a few late spawners found up against shore on concrete walls.

Northern PikeTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThis client was in town from Texas and had never caught a pike. He went casting a bladed jig and caught more then he could handle, he had a great day and landed his first ever pike and then many more. As a bonus he didn’t get any cuts and can’t wait to chase Pike again. Please remember if you’re out on Fox it’s under a slow no wake ordinance.
