The walleye are running they’re targeting minnows they seem to like the shad wraps, worked really slow against the bank or up against bridge pilings and Slackwater.

The fish were definitely biting as I caught 32 smallmouth in 8.5 hours. Lot of culling for size though. I ended up with 80.25 inches but most of my fish were below 14 inches. The key to the bite for me was throwing slow moving baits like a drop shot and micro jig. everything was on rock mostly in 5 to 7 foot of water.

There might be a million smallmouth in the Fox River and they all are hungry. They are also mostly 10 inches long. There is some hidden size, I've found a few over 15 inches. Most of your day will be spent putting on a new flatworm because another angry 10 inch smallmouth tore it to shreds.
