I managed to pull in a few decent fish drop shoting a rock pile on the north side of the lake. Unfortunately it was only good enough for 22nd after day 1.

So I started casting around, trying to follow between the weeds and the rocks, and that's when he bit.

Caught smallmouth near scattered vegetation on drop edges in 9-12 ft of water with a Berkeley max scent flat worm in green pumpkin on a drop shot. Also had a few on a Duo Realis 80 spinbait in a perch color. 8lb fluorocarbon for the drop shot, 4 lb fluorocarbon for the spinbait.

Fished shallow channels and backwater off the main lake with lily pads and matted grass. Biggest of the day was the one pictured at 5.15 lbs. Scum frog launch series in the pitch color on a 7ft medium heavy fast action rod, 6.3:1 baitcasting reel with 50lb spider wire stealth braid.

Had a great numbers day with around 12lbs being our biggest 5 just couldn’t find the bigger bite. Most fish were caught in the 9-15ft range on isolated rock piles on the outside of weed lines. Dragging a football jig and tube around yielded the most bites.

Launched from Sunset Park and fished Eastern half of lake. Caught a few largemouth under docks swimming a Strike King football jig. Caught 1 nice smallmouth around clean bottom area in 15' of water on a do nothing retrieve with a Green Pumpkin finesse TRD and a really nice smallmouth on the first drop with a shop shot in about 25' a little west of Sandstone Bluff. Then had some motor problems. Thank you to the gentleman that gave me a tow the rest of the way back to the lauch! I appreciated it!
