TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructurePointsFrom Feb-April is a great time for a spinnerbait on Green River. The fish are in pre-spawn, the water is warming, has a slight stain, levels fluctuate and the largemouth move with it. Focus on points moving into spawning areas and fish every rock and laydown you can. You may not get many bites, but they will be the right ones. A spinnerbait is a great search tool and can be fished anywhere on the lake. I tend to like a heavier spinnerbait to have the ability to fish whatever cover is in front of me whether it is 2 ft deep or 20ft.

TechniqueFootball JigsSeasonSummerStructureLedgesSummer on Green River from May -August can be a great time to fish the ledges in the morning and night times. The mid lake area from Holmes Bend to Lone Valley traditionally have the most ledges to offer. Start searching, fishing and scanning in 10-20ft, but dont be afraid to look deeper, some can get as deep as 35-40 ft. Crankbaits, Spoons, and big worms are all great options, but day in and day out a simple Football jig is one of the most effective ways to fish the rocky ledges and get a big bite.

TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonFallStructureShadFollow the shad. Green river is chock full of baitfish. The bait fish start to move to main lake flats in 3-10ft of water as well as backs of the pockets. Cover water until you start seeing baitfish. The baitfish are small, so a small shallow diving crank bait is the perfect tool. Main lake flats are prime targets. If you find yourself around too many baitfish and the bass won’t eat a lure, try a bright color to make your lure stand out

TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonFallStructurePointsFocus primarily on main lake points and ledges fishing 15’-20’ feet. Had a lot of success finding schooled up baitfish and throwing the War Eagle spinnerbait and the 6” MMIII Roboworm around them. Slowing down the retrieve seemed to get more bites and usually land the bigger fish.
