TechniqueFootball JigsSeasonFallStructureLedgesWas able to get a Top 10 finish at Greers Ferry Lake during our state championship back in early October. All of my keepers as well as majority of the fish I caught during this two day event was a combination of different jigs paired with a Strike King Menace grub. I found a stretch of bank where an old river ledge was that drop from 5 ft to around ~20ft. The fish were all across that stretch so I didn’t matter where you threw at. Hopefully this helps you guys out on your next fishing trip.

TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLedgesI recently participated in a semi-informal kayak tournament at Greers. I had a successful fishing trip where I caught over 10 fish by casting a 3/4 spinner bait up against rock walls. The water temperature during the trip was between 62-64F, and it was overcast with 30mph gusts. In a previous report, I mentioned that the Falcon Head Turner rod is the best option for spinnerbaits, and I still stand by that statement. I paired it with a Shimano 150 size reel with the MGL spool in a slower ratio, allowing me to channel my inner Jason Christie. The Mastiff line is an excellent choice in line if you're looking for a complete package for 3/8 and 1/2 spinnerbaits with trailers, or 3/4 ounce spinner baits without trailers. Overall, I couldn't ask for a better setup for my fishing trip.

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonFallStructureStumpsThrowing the minimax nearly up on the bank at the middle to the back of coves off of main lakes produced some phenomenal fishing. Using the Zman Steakz in "The Deal" color, produced bite after bite. A 3/8 War Eagle double willow blade in spot remover also produced bites in the same area.

TechniqueShakey HeadsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureBrush PilesFished from early morning till about noon. No monsters, best coming at around 2.5lbs. Roboworm with the Picasso head produced around 20 fish total. These Picasso heads use Gamakatsu hooks and they stayed very sharp. The tungsten keeps sensitivity up, was using 10lb fluorocarbon. Shaky heads are an underrated bait on Greers, most anglers power fish then give up. They are there, finesse is the key. Would also suggest the same worm but on a dropshot or Texas rig.

Started fishing later in the day once air temp got up, but banging the banks in 10 feet of water, throwing right up on the bank caught a bunch of bass. Bunch of 12-13" and then some 15-16" class bass. Had one small mouth blow up on a Spook Boyo on a main lake point

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureFlooded BrushFishing was slow for me, spent too much time in areas along deep flooded shores...trying various baits, spinnerbaits and soft plastic getzit. When I went up into creeks above flooded brush found two smallmouth. Others who fished in area closeby caught bigger and more smallmouth.
