TechniqueFinesse Hair JigsSeasonSummerStructureRock PileWorking my way down the dam this snot rocket smacked my jig and thought he was gonna get away. Right off the bank very shallow. He was mixed in with a bunch of other species; catfish and crappie. Fish on y’all!

Crappie
TechniqueCrappie Sniping (Casting/Single Poling)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDamHitting it on the fall. The slower the bait moves the better chances of a bigger fish hitting. Seems to be the pattern for me at Holden. Going up and down the dam these tacos were 5-7’ deep. Fish on y’all!

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDamDon’t recommend going at the hottest part of the day. Hunting was tough but we brought home the nuggets. I’ve seemed to find the bigger crappie like a slow falling bait, most of the small ones will usually grab it on the reel back. Fish on!

Crappie
TechniqueCrappie Sniping (Casting/Single Poling)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDamEarly morning bite was hot! Crappie all up and down the dam, pretty shallow around 9 o’clock. White and pink seemed to be the favorite. Omnia doesn’t sell the Bobby Garland Strol’r but I had a lot of tacos hitting a 2.5” black and white strol’r. Bass and crappie both like the tail action on that thing. Fish on y’all!

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructurePointsFishing for crappie before the storm rolled in, this guy smacked it soon as it hit the water. Early morning, very shallow, high, murky water. Everything is hitting white right now. Fish on y’all!
- Species
White Bass
TechniqueLipless CrankbaitsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructurePointsLots of activity, fish are definitely on the move. Had a lot of success on both jigs and lures colored white. Clear water and bright sunshine in the morning. School of tacos right off the point in some shallow water. Muddy/rocky bottom. Happy Mother’s Day to all you mamas! Fish on!

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureLedgesMid-morning bite just beside the boat ramp. Dragging and small hops got this taco to munch. A lot of success on the green pumpkins worms the last few weeks. Fish on y’all!

TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructurePointsDo you hear those big blow ups? That’s the dinner bell, Son! I always spend the first few minutes at a spot watching and listening before I cast. Easy choice to go with a walking topwater when you see em belly floppin. Fish on!
