TechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSummerStructureLaydownsFishing early morning points with laydowns, stumps and shallow ridges. Bass schooling chasing shad over points. Throw Pop R out allowing ripples to disappear then giving small twitches allowing ripples to disappear fish would strike lure while it lay dead in water. Caught several good fish using this method.

TechniqueSoft JerkbaitsSeasonSummerStructureLaydownsDead sticking a weightless 5" Senko. Throwing into laydown allowing senko to fall to bottom and letting it lie still for 10-15 seconds then pulling up slowly to see if fish has picked it up. If not move it just a little allowing it to settle back to bottom and remain motionless again. We caught several bass up to 5.5 lbs using this method during early morning up to about 10 AM. Weather got extremely hot bite slacked off and we got off the water. Good luck and use patience when fishing the hot water, drink plenty of liquids and use sun screen when out on the water

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksThe water was stained and the wind was light. Moving baits were effective for catching fish in the shallows around docks, with good success on bites. Weightless plastics worked well when flipping stumps, and football jigs were productive when slow dragging on points.

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureStumpsThe heavy winds for a short period of time stirred up the waters and made it a bit difficult to see, but the fish were still biting. The most success in shallow waters that were stained with a few feet of visibility. Using black and blue chatterbait, spinnerbaits, and flipping stumps in creek channels. Wacky rigs around grass edges and docks.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureFlooded BrushSmall male bass are courting the females to their beds. A few bass have spawned while others are still coming forward for their annual ritual. The males are super aggressive protecting the bed. Bites usually occur when the worm enters the water or as the worm passes over a bed. Fish are also waiting to come forward in 3' to 8' of water so working the worm slowly allowing it to fall with just minor twitches will result in some good strikes. Good Luck!!!

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueCarolina RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureFlooded BrushFish are slowly returning to spawning areas after cold front to continue spawning. A few fish have moved up some are still located near the first drop-off. An 8" Zoom Magnum Lizard treated with Bait Fuel and fished slowly will get bites. Be sure to practice catch and release to preserve this resource.

TechniqueShakey HeadsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureDocksFish are moving toward shallow water to make beds ready for spawning. Docks are great places to start fishing as they afford cover and protection from overhead predators. Allow bait to settle to bottom and shake on limp line to provide movement to the worm without moving the jig head. Fish will pick up the bait and start swimming away. Allow fish to move bait on toned line and when you feel weight pull back moderately to set the hook and reel fish in. Setting the hook fast and hard may result in loss of fish as fish may not have bait properly to allow hook set. Good Luck

TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonWinterStructureRock PileFound a shallow rock point, and cranked it with a fritside 5 and caught some decent 2.5 - 3.5 lb fish. Also caught fish with a wacky rig once the cranking bite slowed down.
