Largemouth Bass
TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureRip RapBass are post spawn. Look for them in morning along rip rap, especially if wind is blowing. Use a spinnerbait along rip rap. Bass will be in shallows in mid morning, look for top water or wacky rig senkos and zinkers. Rest of day, bass are cruising between ledges and shore for crawdads and bluegill

TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureBrush PilesWater level is way down here but you can still find bass along rocky outcrops, brushpiles and trees still along water's edge. Slow roll a spinnerbait along these structures and rocky points.

TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationThis reservoir is called Fire Lake and run by the City of Ivins. Largemouth reside in here, possibly planted or from the pipes running from Gunlock. We haven't had many warm days yet, so bass still transitioning to pre-spawn. Have had success with Zman Zinkerz wacky rigged and slowly dragged and bounced along bottom. Cast out to submerged brush. Very slow retrieve along brush and rock ledges.

TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRock PileWater is stained and the bass can be a little tricky to find in early spring. The lake gets lots of pressure, but there are some good bass. Use dark-colored worms, senkos, or jigs. Spinnerbaits can also be productive. Fishing wind swept points and Rip-rap worked out for us.

TechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonFallStructureDamStopped off for a quick walk this morning and Jack’d a good 3 pound fish on a white buzzbait. The fish are up shallow in the mornings feeding and preparing for the winter haunts. Also jacked a few with a finesse jig.

TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonFallStructureRip RapFall transition is in full swing. Largemouth are feeding aggressively in shallow cover. The reservoir is fairly small but the water was high on our last visit. There is obvious "structure" that tends to hold fish. Flooded brush, the rip rap by the dam, small rocky points, etc. Tried a few different options but crankbaits got the fish going. Something in the 1-6' range is great. Squarebills are excellent options to reduce hang ups. Something that deflects off of wood and rock is a good option. I had one explode on the bait and two others where the line got heavy before they realized they were hooked.

TechniqueNed RigsSeasonFallStructureFlooded BrushFound a few nice fish around the lake fishing ned rigs and crankbaits. I fished neds when the water was calm and there was no wind. I focused on shade lines, brush piles, and rock. When the wind would pick up, I switched to cranking. Bouncing a small crankbait off of rock, brush, or trees was a good way to trigger fish. In the fall, keep an eye out for bluegill pushed up against the shore and focus on structure or depth in those areas.

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonWinterStructureOpen Water/BasinCold water moved the fish to the deepest water available. Only had a couple takes in the short time we were there. Concentrate on areas where the water is at it max depth and move your baits slowly. We focused on small swimbaits and dropshot. We did try some reactions baits including jerkbaits, but the fish seemed to be bottom oriented.
