Largemouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonFallStructurePointsAfter a poor practice I decided to start from scratch on a couple of points with clay banks in between that I’ve done well on in other tournaments. 2nd point I fished had some fish on it. Fished 1 mile of bank a couple of times and caught 12 largemouth, 4 keeper for 8-14 and a 24th place finish.

The bass seemed to be following the baitfish near structure. Deep humps watch for schools, up creeks just find the baitfish.

All the fish caught today came on spinnerbaits and swim jigs around baitfish and structure with wind. Once the sun got up around noon the bite diminished, went completely dead with no wind.

Tough bite right now. I fished a lot of open water spots where bass typically are coming up on baitfish. We caught some shallow on topwater but had to work hard for the bites. Evergreen 125 and Whopper Plopper produced bites.

Pre-fished 3 hours Thursday evening and caught 7 largemouth off of riprap. The key areas had logs wedged in the rocks that had washed in during high water. I used a medium retrieve and crashed into the wood to get a deflection/reaction bite.

Went out looking for some summertime fish with my forward facing sonar. Nice cool morning for summertime. Focused on points and humps and shoals where there was a 17-20 foot drop off with some rocks or brush piles. Main Lake!
