Punching Mats - Largemouth were stacked under grass mats that had slight irregularities (change in depth, hard bottom). The grass mats were extremely thick, hence the 1oz weight used to "punch" through it. The bass were located directly under the mat due the area underneath being completely clean and barren. When the blk and blue craw punched through the mat, it caused a REACTION STRIKE upon entry. Mandatory tackle - 7'6" or 8 ft heavy action rod, coupled with 50 lb or 65 objects braided line, and a high speed reel.

Fishing Report: Deep Creek Channel Success with the New Berkley Moeba Bait The creek channel bite has been heating up, and the new Berkley Moeba bait has quickly proven to be a strong producer when targeting bass holding along deep creek channels. With changing water conditions, many fish have moved away from the shallow areas and are using deeper channel edges, drop-offs, and structure as their primary feeding zones. The key has been locating those channel swings, creek intersections, and deeper transitions where bass can suspend or sit tight to cover while waiting on baitfish to move through.
