Largemouth Bass
TechniqueFootball JigsSeasonSummerStructureLaydownsDuring the summer Largemouth bass like to sit up under over hanging trees or under logs. I like to take a dark colored Keitech jig with a dark trailer as well. Skipping the jig up under the trees or next to the logs and work it slowly out from the bank. A great technique to catch bass all day long as well as using a jig, therefore chasing a bigger bite!

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassFishing the lake the first hour of light the frog and topwater bite is very productive! Your best chance to catch a lot of quality fish. I throw the frog in all of the matted grass but focusing on "walking" the frog along the grass edges where the bass are pushing the bait up to.

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureBaitfishCame out to the lake to test a motor on my kayak and try to catch some fish. Bass were difficult to find but I did find a giant school of trout in 20ish foot of water using my livescope. I threw out a finesse swimbait and caught 5 trout within 10 minutes. A lot of fun!!!

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonFallStructureMatted GrassEarly in the morning I was throwing a topwater frog. Using the frog over the weedbeds I got 3 blow ups but no fish were landed. In the afternoon I caught a largemouth (12”) on the outside edge a weedbed using a swim jig that imitated a shad. After the swim jig, I threw on a Texas rigged D-Bomb. I caught 3 small bass flipping on the outside edge of the weedbed. All these bass were between 10-14”. The water temperature was about 75 degrees and the wind picked up mid-afternoon while I was throwing the Texas rig which greatly enhanced the bite.

TechniqueSwim JigsSeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationArrived at the lake around 4 PM. The wind gradually picked up throughout the night causing me to tie on a spinnerbait. With no success using the spinnerbait, I decided to tie on a swim jig which I feel much more confident with. I was throwing the swim jig in the outside edge of the weedbeds where the weeds thin out a bit. I caught a few bass ripping the swim jig through the grass. These fish at Kaercher are very aggressive despite their small size.

TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationThe bass have been hitting on the outside edge of the weedbeds. Jerkbaits are my go-to lure for Kaercher right now, but spinnerbaits have been working really well too.
