TechniqueTubesSeasonFallStructureDocksDocks and weed line on the east side of the lake north of the landing held all the fish. Craw tubes in Junebug color worked the best. 1/4 ounce jig also. Cast it around docks and weed lines. Let it sit and watch the line.

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonFallStructureStumpsIt’s been a while since I have been on Knife Lake. Wasn’t expecting much success. Started throwing top waters and had a few misses. Went down the docks for quite a ways. Finally threw a chatter bait and second cast I caught a nice 17”er. My son tied a slobberknocker on and we proceeded to catch multiple fish. Found them holding to timber and rock. The water is really dirty so baits that make noise and big will be working the best.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassDuring the summer months Knife lake can produce a phenomenal frog bite. There are plenty of lily pads, matted grass, duck weed and various other areas excellent for frogging. Look for these areas and throw your frog of choice into them. It varies on the day with what color and movement of the frog in which they want. I have caught them primarily on white and black bellied frogs on this lake. The frog bite seems to heat up as the dryer and hotter the weather gets.

TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksOnce the sun gets high in the sky the dock bite really turns on. Weightless wacky rigs fished either fast or slow were working. Okeechobee craw and junebug were the best colors on a VMC Weedless Neko hook.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSummerStructureRock PileFished Knife lake on July 8th from 6:30 am to 3pm. Only managed about 10 fish but did a lot of scanning/searching. My best success came from rock areas making long casts and dragging a finesse football jig through the rock. No giants but solid 3 pounders. Water temp was 75 degrees.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureLaydownsUsed the hummingbird 360 to find submerged wood off shore and pitched finesse jigs to them. They wanted it very slow and we ended up catching a bunch of nice post spawn fish.
