This topwater bite was unreal. Wether it was sunny, cloudy, windy or slick calm. As soon as you walked a pencil popper or a "spook" type lure over that submerged grass, it was done. Somewhat of a slow cadence was the key to getting bites. They wanted nothing to do with a popper or a "buzzing" type bait. All about that "walk-the-dog" life ! The big girls sure came out to play too, my best five was 19.32lbs.

With nice winds and partially sunny skies, the moving bait bite was on. The stealthblade in clear water works wonders and it was the same profile as the perch that the smallies were feeding on. There was an average of 3 bass per dock, so the targets were easy and the bite was fun!

They wouldn't commit to a moving bait, so I had to slow down and finesse them. I caught most of the fish, and biggest, around docks and around the exterior grass edge. There was a ton of forage around that structure, so the smallies were STACKED.
