Fishing around the spawn/post spawn on Kentucky Lake and Barkley Lake. Found lots of the smallmouth were on their way out in the creek. On the main lake they were bedding up, casting a Keitech of any shad color along steep points with brush near them or any sort of transition near a point worked well.

Wife and I went out and caught a few. She lost a nice one and caught a crappie. There seems to be all stages going on right now but I believe the spawn is just now really happening. I saw a buck bass on a bed and he wasn't acting like his girlfriend had visited yet. But seems to be a perfect storm of spawning activity about to happen. Bluegill, shad and bass are all doing their thing at the same time. Laydowns on lead in banks were the spot where we got the bigger bites. But this coming week it is supposed to get really hot so it might speed up the movement to deeper water. We will see.

Dragging shallow points with the Carolina rig got a few bites. Seems like they were bluegill eaters and maybe a few spawners. But I think they are pushing out to ledges now. Might still be some good bites shallow early morning but deeper points will probably be the deal by midday.

Shad spawn, bluegill and some bass are still spawning. Caught a bunch around laydowns and brush. Really fun time to fish lots of fish shallow. Lost a giant that I watched chasing bait in about a foot of water.

Bass are still roaming with shad schools . Some are being caught on top waters but our best success has been Rapala DT6’s on points with shad activity present .
