TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReedsI made a video of the outing https://youtu.be/yTt6Xdp5lRk Kayak fishing, casting tight up against or just into the reeds was getting the job done. I started out at sun up but as the day went on the bite did not cool off. The fish were biting all day until I got to wet and cold to continue, haha. I had some really good eats and one time a 17 1/2" bass almost pulled the rod out of my hands! Such a good time.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureReedsI was frog fishing and following up missed fish with the worm. The monofiliment keeper kind of got in the way of a couple hooksets but i was not getting hung up all the time either. I made a video of the trip - Check it out to see how i fished this bait. https://youtu.be/AiOC8ft5NIM?si=o6D2iK0UBGaLwAdS

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReedsI tried a 3.3" and 2.8" fat swing impact. Both baits fit well on the 1/8oz owner flashy swimmer hook. I have had hookup issues with anything over 3" on this hook in the past and today was not any different. I missed 6 fish before I switched and then I only missed one. I think the smaller fish will short strike the 3.3" and not get the hook. If you look at where the spinner blade is, if a fish strikes there they will only get the back half of the 3.3. The 3.3 is also a lot fatter, so it does not have as much room for the bait to slide. Here is the link to the YouTube video I made on this trip. https://youtu.be/jw7alyRQ0BM?si=P3Af62USSaUO9MVC

TechniqueUmbrella RigsSeasonFallStructureOpen Water/BasinLate Summer the bass move out deep. Around 9 or 10 in the morning they school up and start chasing the minnows to the surface. It looks like a feeding frenzy while 100's of bass are doing their best to catch these little minnows. The forage is 2-3" minnows so it is hard to get the bass to target in on baits bigger than that. The trick Ive found out to use on this lake in the summer is smaller baits and erratic action to mimic the minnows they are chasing. I caught 3 bass in one cast using the yum-brella 5 wire with the 2 1/2" grubs and caught many others on small 3" jerkbaits. Get a boat and take your kids out to have a blast with these "schoolies" in the summer. Link to my youtube channel of this episode https://youtu.be/nvNVYH9tKf4
