Fish were very active today and chasing very small bait. While the smaller fish would eat a jerkbait very aggressively, it seemed like the bigger ones preferred a crankbait digging into the bottom. Pitching at sight fish was effective as well.

Strong winds were blowing on this rocky point and while reaction baits got a few bites, dragging a jig through the bouldeds seemed to be the most effective technique and yeilded the biggest bites.

My absolute favorite smallmouth fishery in the summer when they are chasing baby shad around. The yumbrella is my goto Arig with a crush city mayor on the middle wire and PNW bass candy slasher swimbaits on the rest. If you haven’t been on an Arig bite I highly recommend it.

Fish seemed to be keyed on perch this day, so throwing a swimbait resembling a perch worked very well.
