Can catch them with a number of techniques, but the fluke was most successful and it was good for a 15lbs day on smallies alone (possibly more if had water to self). Winners caught their fish in 40-60 ft scoping a minnow of various sizes, I finished 19th of 158.

The baits and tools listed are what I leaned on; however I have good information that on top of this bite sequence there was also a productive frog and swim jig bite in the shore line grasses, on top of the offshore submerged vegetation. This is a choice, much of the submerged grasses look like they are dirty, disturbed and not in the best of water and this is the case from Canada Line to Ticonderoga. If you can find cleaner grasses, there are and will be large mouth, but in these areas you are prone to catch more northern pike as well. Smallmouth fishing ended up being a more productive fishing approach for competition purposes.
