We used forward facing sonar to locate a mega school of smallmouth. Once we found them, we could throw just about any bait at them. This included a jerkbait, swimbait, but what worked the best was a spy bait. We caught a close to 20 pound bag just off this one group.

I’ve learned that if you can find a school of perch minnows and run the chatter bait through them big bass aren’t far away waiting for those perch to get spooked so they can make a move.

in the southern basin the water was high and off color got several fish flipping in dollar pads and water chestnut, had several blowups on the frog but only hooked one and had a pike cut me off. Also fished along rock walls and had good success on the dropshot

Another lights out day for dad and I ! With the lake being high from all the rain it made the buzz bait the perfect choice for all the submerged vegetation in close proximity to shoreline cover. Using a combo of FFS/360 we were able to locate what we were looking for and it paid off. If they missed my buzz bait dad would instantly put the general in the area of the explosion and 7/10 they ate it!

Skipping jig under docks with large end platforms provided several nice 4 1/2lb bites on those days where the wind makes fishing offshore for smallies difficult
