We used forward facing sonar to locate a mega school of smallmouth. Once we found them, we could throw just about any bait at them. This included a jerkbait, swimbait, but what worked the best was a spy bait. We caught a close to 20 pound bag just off this one group.

With this warming trend and approaching heat wave I’ve found fish up shallow near lay downs in wind blown current around. I’ve learned that if you can find a school of perch minnows and run the chatter bait through them big bass aren’t far away waiting for those perch to get spooked so they can make a move.
