Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonWinterStructureLaydownsAir temp had warmed up from the day before, with a little bit of wind and over cast cloud coverage. I was throwing the minimax right up on the bank and both swimming it and dragging along the bottom bumping rocks that was triggering strikes. The Zman Streakz is THE best trailer for these tiny chatterbaits, and they last forever.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonFallStructureLaydownsTossing the Spook Boyo all day against the bank next to laydowns paid off. Caught a bunch of shorts, and a handful of quality fish. Water is low, and temps were around 54F. Fished before the cold front that moved in today. Air temps were nice, and it was partly clouded.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureStanding TimberWorking a swim jig in between the bank and cypress trees got me bit a few times. Water temp was 78F, and water was muddy on the north end. Carp were spawning, so you had to find a section of bank where they weren’t.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureMatted GrassI had an excellent day pre-fishing for our upcoming tournament next weekend. The majority of the fish were caught around emerging grass and laydowns. I used a weighted Senko or a custom chatterbait, running it parallel to the laydowns or working it through the emerging grass. The water temperature ranged from 72-76°F throughout the day. Lake level was a little high, but the clarity was good.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureStumpsDuring my kayak tournament, I found the bass relating to more individual stumps and lay downs tucked to the bank. Flipping with a 1/4 oz weight and a 4/0 owner hook worked very well for me. Ended up 3rd out of 20 kayak competitors.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureStanding TimberWalking a Spook Boyo next to timber, or flinging a wacky worm next to bigger timber generated a ton of fish. Water was a hair dingy, and temp rode between 76-80F. I would sling the wacky worm into the tree and let it sink for 5-7 seconds, and start working it back. If I didn't get hit, I would move to the next tree.
