TechniqueUnderspinsSeasonSummerStructureDocksWent out to see if the black and blue pattern was holding up, ended up having my co-pilot catch some fish around the docks with a Dirty Jigs mini under spin and a Strike King Rage Swimmer in electric shad. She likes to use the Daiwa Zillion reel since it is so hard to backlash. Picture is of her biggest fish using this bait.

TechniqueFootball JigsSeasonSummerStructureRip RapStarted off the morning with cloud cover, humid, and a slight breeze. Anyone in their right mind would be thinking buzz bait/spinnerbait, but no takers. I ended up going back to what worked the last couple of weekends. It was real slow at first but when it turned on the big ones came out to feed. I was pitching a black and blue Dirty Jig finesse football jig, with a Yamamoto Senko as a trailer. When that slowed I went to a 4" black and blue Yamamoto Senko, wacky rigged and kept on catching them. Picture is of the biggest one. It was just over 19 inches long, skinny and still close to 6 pounds. Good day all around.

TechniqueFootball JigsSeasonSummerStructureRip RapSince the bait I used the weekend before worked so well I thought I would go back to my go to colors. Old school brown Dirty Jigs Football jig, with a green pumpkin w/chartreuse tail trailer. I found that trimming the jig trailer back just to the bottom of the hook bend, and using about 3" to 3 1/2" of the Yamamoto Senko produced the most and largest bites. I was able to catch quite a few fish the the one in the photo being one of the biggest ones.

TechniqueFootball JigsSeasonSummerStructureRip RapMy ole reliable hadn't been catching them like she had been so I decided to change it up. Saw this on Youtube so I thought I'd give it a try. 3/8 oz black and blue Dirty Jigs finesse football head with a Yamamoto Senko trailer. Seemed to do the trick, was able to boat a few nice ones.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassWent out early to try my luck with a hollow body frog, Strike King popping perch in green pumpkin, had a few blow ups but no hook ups. I decided to through Strike King Rage Swimmer on a Dirty Jig underspin, and they were tearing it up. I ended up paralleling the grass line and ended up catching about 15 fish in one spot in the cove. It was a big time for a couple hours.
