Largemouth BassTechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructurePointsFound the bass on secondary points outside of spawn staging areas. Emergent grass next to deep channel swings was a solid pattern for the day. Chartreuse and white spinnerbaits tossed shallow, pulled back over deep water was the ticket.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLaydownsWe had another good day at lake eufaula the other day fishing around lake point state park and Florence marina. Using a swim bait around laydowns in 4-10 foot of water, a chatter bait, a 7.5” worm and caught skne good ones on the spro poppin’ frog. Fishing right now is 🔥and they’re biting really good. The new Shimano fluorocarbon is absolutely amazing and I seriously can’t say enough about it! You seriously gotta try it, the castabilty, knot strength and abrasion resistance is incredible and has little to no line memory. It’s truly everything you would expect from Shimano with the great quality.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructurePointsShad spawn is definitely going on right now. I fished the upper half of the lake staying above twin bridges in pockets that had grass. I paralleled the grass line and the bass would come out from the grass and eat it. A good follow up bait was a swim jig.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLaydownsWe had another good day out on lake Eufaula Alabama on the north end of the lake around grass creek near Florence marina. The water was still some what muddy from all the recent rain but the bass were definitely beginning to move shallow. A Texas rigged worm pitched around lay down produced the most bites but the fire craw chatter also did put some good fish in the boat! I’ve recently changed my line choice to the new Shimano Mastiff fluorocarbon and I honestly can’t say enough about it. It has proved to hold up very well even when pulling 3+ pounders around laydowns, out from under docks and even through some pretty thick grass and of course offers the incredible sensitivity that we all love about the fluorocarbon. Basically Shimano has come out with a product with the quality that we would all expect from Shimano and it does not disappoint!

Largemouth BassTechniqueVertical Jigging Mid Depth (10-19')SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureHumpsFound bait balls off shore, largemouths were under them, so I started jigging a freeloader in front of them with a spinning rod ..12lb braid with 10lb fluorocarbon

CrappieTechniqueVertical Jigging Mid Depth (10-19')SeasonWinterStructureBrush PilesFish mid depth water during the day. 15 to 20 ft depth. Find structure! Fish are suspended above brush piles and sunken trees. Top jig with a crappie minnow (we got a hold of some rosy red minnows that worked wonders) Once you find them, they won't be hard to get.

Largemouth BassTechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLedgesI fished a Bassmaster open on Eufaula in Early March. There were still some pre-spawn fish that were grouped up offshore that I was targeting with a Rapala DT-10 through a DT-16 depending on depth. Key areas were near spawning pockets on secondary points. If there was a ledge or a harder bottom spot, that made it even better. Livescope was critical to see where the groups of bass were, they were moving around following schools of shad. I was using a St Croix Legend Glass 7'4" MH Moderate, and the Mojo Bass Glass in the same action will be a good rod for it too. I used 12lb test Invizx line and gamakatsu size 4 round bend trebles. I liked the Disco Shad color in clear water and Caribbean in dirtier water.
