Once we find the clusters, it’s all about precision casting—dropping a slip bobber rig with a 1/8 oz tungsten jig and nightcrawler right on the edge of the weeds. Fish are staging just outside the cover, and the bite has been steady with this subtle presentation. The tungsten jig helps the bait stay down in the strike zone, and the crawler seals the deal. Great way to pick apart structure and dial in on fish that are holding just off the vegetation. Now’s a good time to get out and take advantage of this pattern before it changes!

TechniqueBobbersSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationWith the recent cold nights, water temperature are still sitting in the low to mid 50s. Crappies are staging in 6-10'. Slow presentations have been key. Try 2" plastics under a float to keep the bait in front of the fish.

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureHumpsFound smallmouth and walleye on clean bottom areas of structure in 18-21 feet of water. Most were suspended 5-7 feet off bottom.but would follow drop-shot down to bottom and eat. Shocked at number of good walleyes we caught on the Flat Worm. Moved after catching several in order to focus on smallmouth. Largemouth were in grass and the drop shot produced at least a couple dozen to 3.5 pounds.
