There are some good fish to be found on the outside edges of the matted up curlyleaf that surrounds the lake. Plenty of numbers can be caught on a neko rig or wacky rig, but we found more consistent big bites came on Texas and Tokyo rigged creature baits, as well as jigs.

Outing was for June 22, 2024 fished from 730 to 1215. Weather was heavily overcast. Water was 70 to 72. Very humid. Heavy algae bloom must have just occured. Small fish seemed to be up tight to shore with very high water level with all the recent rain. Highest I have ever seen. No wake in effect. Had some luck with frogs up shallow and skipping a senko. Best pattern was flipping a dbomb on an outside weedline. Got into a nice school and caught 6 or 7 pretty quickly on a green pumpkin dbomb woth added chartreuse garlic spike it marker. Overall great morning.

Bigger fish in deeper pads, smaller fish near shore. We caught fish up to three pounds. Greenhorn event.

Weed clumps are loaded with bass right now in 3 to 7 feet of water. Expect curly leaf pond weed to die out on next few weeks, so now is the time. Catching them on weightless wacky rigs with 5-inch Berkley The General in either PowerBait or PowerBait Max Scent. Green pumpkin and other colors are good. Using Fusion 19 Drop Shot hook in 2/0. Great hook-up ratios and low issues with weed fouling hook.

With water temperatures heating up, look for bass to be on the outside weedlines or under mats. Flipping jigs or Texas rigged creature baits put up some good numbers in our local kayak tournament.

The bass are moving deeper as the heat rises. Look for bass under thick mats or along the curly tail weed edges in 6-8FOW. Flipping will product the most bites.
