TechniqueGrass JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReedsIstokpoga is really low right now. This has positioned the fish on the edges of the deepest stretches of reeds on the lake. Anywhere where you have a few feet of water to flip you have a good chance of running into a few. While you can catch some flipping a swimming worm, It seemed like a heavier jig created a reaction strike and worked much better than a Texas rig. The shallow stuff is very difficult to get into with the low water. Make sure you are trimmed up and come in slow as you approach reed lines. I wouldn't even mess with the canals. Those fish are long gone.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReedsFlipping reed edges with a 1/2 oz flipping jig in black and blue with a D Bomb trailer produced a beautiful 22.25 inch fish in the early morning. Keep an ear out for bass busting on fish in the reeds, if you don't hear it they are not there, keep looking around until you hear them. When the reed fish bit died off, running a burner worm in black/blue glitter around isolate patches of pads intermixed with arrow reeds and Kissimmee grass was producing good numbers. Run the worm through the pads and kill it on the edges, bass would sometimes wait until the worm reached the edge before attacking, some would be in ambush clearings in the pads, others would be around the clumps of grasses in the pads.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureReedsVery tough tournament day. We caught several smaller fish, and we were able to weigh in 1 decent keeper. The Watermelon Red Fat Ace from Gambler led the way with bites all day. Water levels were much lower than they have been all summer and I think that affected the bite significantly since we could not get back into some of our more productive areas.

TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksFished a Florida BASS Nation Kayak Series event. Caught most of my fish on wacky junebug 6” Senko under docks. Did catch 2 around grass and lily pads. Had to switch to a weightless Texas rig as I broke off all of my wacky hooks. Wind picked up and was harder to skip with the waves.
