When the a-rig quit working I picked up the Carolina rig and was able to catch a few more from each spot. I drug it under the bait very slowly in order to catch fish.

We won the derby thanks to a pair of 5-lb smallmouth bass. All fish were caught around schools of shad on the Catawba side of the lake on the Duckett Fishing BD 3" Subtle Tail in the Sexy Herring color paired with a 7' Duckett Fishing Medium Jacob Wheeler Signature Series spinning rod. This lake is really showing out right now!

My son and I spent the afternoon on Lake James and caught a lot of smallmouth throwing the Duckett Fishing 3" BD Subtle Tail swimbait in Tennessee Shad on fish suspending around bait. The main channel on the Catawba arm was dirty from the recent rains so we focused on the Linville arm where the water was cleaner. We actually used the Duckett Fishing 7' Jacob Wheeler Signature Series Medium action rods. I didn't see it in the drop-down to select what rod we used. That rod is the best spinning rod I've ever used for the money and is perfect for finesse swimbaits and Damiki rigs, as well as tons of other applications. My son caught his PB smallmouth that day that weighed 4 lbs 14 ounces. The bass are biting!

My friend, Mike, and I got out on James for an afternoon and caught a lot of smallmouth and largemouth on the Duckett Fishing 3” BD Subtle Tail in Tennessee Shad. The fish were feeding on threadfin around points. The Duckett Fishing Wheeler Series 7’ Medium spinning rods detect even the slightest bites from those lethargic winter bites.
