Fishing this week was tough. We tried everything. Lindy's with crawlers and leeches. Bottom bouncers with slow death rigs. Casting jerkbaits, ned rigs, drop shot, soft plastic paddle tails. We fished flats, rock humps and weed edges. All in areas where we can confirm there was fish (many times the fish looked at my leech on the live sonar and swam away). The few fish we did catch, especially a 15.5 not shown, was a fat as a football likely gorged with mayflies and other baitfish. July is a tough month on Kab. Where we did hear of success was really slow presentation of live bait rigs with a bare hook tipped with a leech moving very slow (0.5 mph or even less). Still the fish in the pic was caught with an Authentix Puls-R 3.25" PB&J on a rock reef in 14FOW. Fluke? On a week like this maybe!

Smallys are one of my favorite fish, especially throwing crankbaits! Look for shallow points that extend for a long ways out from shore, use a paper map your, a map on your electronics. Start on the deeper end and work your way up. If you can find points with big boulders and rocks all the better, BIG Rocks = BIG Fish! Keep working the points, if you can find ones that are wind blown. Good Luck !

Casting DT 6 and DT 10 around rocky points was consistently producing smallmouth in different conditions and times of the day.
