TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSummerStructureRock PileWas an overall slow day summer day until the wind picked up. If you are out there, find shallow areas where the wind is hitting hard and throw around some moving baits. Cover water in that less then 10 foot range, should stumble across so shallow smallies.

TechniqueMedium Diving Crankbaits (7'-12')SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationWorking the outside weed edges with the DT10 Bluegill pattern primarily casting up into 10-11’ of water and working it back out through the submerged weeds to 14-15’ of water. Bass would hit it as you ripped it through the weed line. Bass congregated in groups in coontail patches within the larger grass beds. Grass grew 2-5’ off the the bottom out to 12-14’ of water. Using fluorocarbon line to help get that Crankbait deep as well as being nearly invisible underwater. Koronis has a great outside weed line bite during the summer with some monster fish. My biggest caught that weekend was a 19.5” largemouth. If the bite slows down on the Crankbait tie on a Texas rigged Berkley power worm 7” or larger in June bug and work it slowly through the grass.

TechniqueCarolina RigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationRecently completed a kayak tournament on Koronis and took 2nd place dragging a carolina rig through isolated grass clumps in 10-12 FOW. Play around with leader length to figure out what the fish are wanting. Start off with an 18-24" leader and trim up to 12-14" if the water is off-colored or stained. The fish are schooled up and once you find them, the bite can be fast and furious! Make repetative casts to the same grass clumps for multiple back-to-back fish. The fish were soo aggressive that they were hitting the bait without a tail. Again, once you find them, work the area thoroughly.
