TechniqueStructure JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationWeedlines have been dominating on the Le Homme Dieu Chain this year. Some key things to look for include bottom changes, irregularities in the weed line, depth changes and really anything out of the ordinary. Dropshots and jigworms have both produced fish, but a jig with a craw trailer has produced the most consistent quality bites. Cast the jig up 3-4 feet into the weeds, and drag it out past the weed line. I like to use around a 7ft MHF casting rod paired with 15 lb fluorocarbon. One big key is to use a rod with enough power to bury the hook on those far away hooksets!

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Large)SeasonSummerStructurePointsThrowing jackhammers over weeds when it’s cloudy because once the sun comes out, the fish won’t be on the jackhammers but if it’s overcast and cloudy, throw jackhammers over the weeds with a trailer of your choice on it

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructurePointsSpent the weekend as boat captain for a high school tournament on the chain. Fishing was a little slower than expected however the champions tour was on the chain just a few days earlier so we were fishing pretty pressured fish. Fish were a little scattered we found some shallow but most were on the deeper weed edges and points. The patterns were a little hard to pinpoint. We got some fish on almost all presentations. Drop shots were the most consistent, followed by swim jigs with a rage swimmer.
