Smallmouth BassTechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationWe were targeting fish in 15-18 of water near steep transitions. Fish were just off the weed edges near scattered rock. Caught off good mixed bag of smallmouth, largemouth, white bass and a few walleye all on a Rapala DT6. Fun day on the water!

Smallmouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonFallStructureBouldersWater temps in the mid 50’s and clear and the lake has turned over. Tried a little of everything but the most consistent bite I had was dropping on isolated boulders in 20-25 feet of water. Switched back and forth between a dropshot and a Ned rig. Caught a nice fat pike as well!

Smallmouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationFound good numbers of smallmouth in clumps of submerged grass in 8-10 feet of water near steeper transitions. A steady twitch twitch pause retrieve was best. Caught them all on a Lucky Craft slim Pointer in blue/black back fished on a 6’8” medium St. Croix BassX rod and Shimano Curado 71 and 12 pound Seaguar InvisX.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonFallStructureDocksHas the opportunity to take a kid out from my high schools fishing club. It was cold windy and post frontal and generally a pretty tough bite. I had some trolling motor issues so we drifted shorelines in 3-6 feet of water and through spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. We caught a handful of nice bass and a bunch of pike including a nice one in the mid 30’s. We made the best of a tough day and had a great time.
