TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonFallStructureRock PileThe weather was overcast with complete cloud cover for this afternoon/evening fishing outing. The bite was slow and only landed a few smallies. I couldn't get them to comment on other bait except the shallow blows topwater.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesEvening dusk bite. Top water bite is still working well during the low light period on the lake. White bass were also very active busting shad on the surface in pockets. The walking bait was the ticket the popper got a couple of hits but no commitment.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonFallStructureFlooded BrushCalm winds in the morning, overcast, air temp was in the low 70's. All of the bass caught today came on the whopper plopper. Caught well over a dozen largemouth this morning. The largest was 18 inches the smallest was about 4 inches 🤣. I Tried throwing a spinnerbait, chatterbait, weightless fluke, frog, and even a jerkbait. The only thing they would attack was the plopper.

TechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonFallStructureFlooded BrushPretty tough conditions today on the water. Post cold front, bluebird skies, and moderate wind. The winning bait today on the water was the buzzbait. The fish are moving into the channels and creeks. The picture was the biggest of the few caught today. That tri-wing buzzbait is so smooth retrieving either fast or slow. Slow was the key to the bite today.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSummerStructureRock PileIt was an early morning trip fighting the wind in my kayak. I found a couple of decent smallies and a largemouth before being blown off by the wind. The largemouth and one of the smallies came on the walking bait and the last smallie came on the chatterbait.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesOvercast conditions with a little rain in the morning hours. The black bass bite was slow. I caught a few and the biggest is pictured below. I talked with another boater and kayaker, and they were also having a slow time with the bass. The white bass on the other hand are still schooling up and are easy to catch on topwater. The bass I did catch was on a popper or a follow-up caffeine-shad soft jerkbait after they missed the popper.
