TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureLily PadsEarly in the morning the bass were chewing bluegill up shallow in 1-7 feet of water. As the sun got higher and the water warmed up the fish shut down. We switched to fishing thick cover and lily pads. We were instantly rewarded on the jig punching through pads. We then caught a few on the frog. The key was letting them eat the frog for at least 3 seconds before setting the hook. Often they would miss it and eat it again or not have the bait fully. Using 4 strand braid was also key. The 4 strand is a lot rougher and really cuts thorough vegetation. Texas rigs and wacky around the thick over worked well. Another rig that caught them good was a weightless Texas rigged senkos that I twitched over the pads and let fall into gaps in the pads. Hope this helps and good luck fishing.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksThe bass were feeding heavily on bluegill up shallow around bluegill beds. The wacky produced around the beds well but the jig produced a lot bigger bites. I threw a few swim-bait and glide bait style baits in a bluegill pattern but didn’t have a ton of luck. Finding bluegill beds is key right now as bass are terrorizing the bluegill. Throwing bigger baits and jigs off the beds towards deeper water and throwing wackys directly on the beds worked the best. The bluegill spawn is one of the best times here in Minnesota to catch giant bass as they are feeding extremely heavily to make up all the weight they lost during spawn. Hope this helps and good luck fishing.

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksCaught fish under docks with a drop shot and Bellows Stick. The new elastomer models don't get the tails bit off by the sunnies like the regular Bellows do.

TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksThe fish were very active today and ate really well. I caught the majority of my fish on the wacky and the fluke. Throwing the fluke close the shore and working it back to me and throwing the wacky around cover like docks and lay downs produced a ton. I caught a few on the swim jig and the paddle tail but not a whole lot. Hope this helps.

TechniqueNeko RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationThe big bass were chewing today! Caught 6 over 4 lbs and a bunch over 3. The fish were stacked up on steep drop offs from 2-5 ft to 10-12. Casting the Neko and wacky along the drop off was producing a lot and the wacky produced more as the sun got higher. Hope this helps.

TechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationAmazing day on the water today caught 35 bass and some big ones too. Today we fished outside weed lines in 12-15ft casting on to the weeds with swim jigs. Rolling the swim jigs fast over the top of the weeds was the best.I hope this helps you guys catch more and bigger bass. Good luck catch em up

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationA great day on the water. We caught a lot of 16 inch bass and a monster 18.75inch bass. We were fishing tall but spread out weeds in 10-5ft. Rolling Texas rigs thru the weeds or a swim jig over the top was the way to go. The XL Berkley line is great for those long casts but the braid on a swim jig was really solid.I hope this helps you guys catch more and bigger bass.
