Smallmouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonWinterStructureBouldersThere was a 30 boat memorial tournament at Lake Mohave cottonwood cove Saturday Dec 3. one limit was brought to the scales weighing 19 pounds. with a 5.03 Largemouth and a 4.67 Smallie. Second place was 3 fish for 9 pounds. Usually this lake is putting out big bags and im not sure why its so tough.

Striped BassTechniqueTrolling Deep (20'+)SeasonWinterStructureDamFollow the birds. Still hit and miss at Lake Mohave but they are there if you troll long enough. Typically you don’t have to venture very from the marina for a hook up but if you do, then try cast and retrieve hitting each structure point just outside of every cove east side along your way towards the damn. I have had most of my strikes using 12” AC plug rainbow trout pattern. If the striped bass don’t show by the time you get to the damn, then run a few trolling passes back and fourth across the southern end of Lake Mohave along the Davis damn. 40 feet deep with diving baits listed above. Shad and rainbow patterns. If this doesn’t produce then final option for me is live shad inside the coves on the west side of Lake Mohave south of Katherine’s landing. 10lb mono with a split shot and a small circle hook. You can pick up a few live shiners on your way out by stopping @ riverkings bait & tackle in bullhead city AZ. The Mike Huesman family are always willing to guide in the right direction and very knowledgeable about our world class fishery, Lake Mohave. Big stripers chasing shad! Reaction bite!

Scoped all day long looking from 10’ to 35’ deep. Caught around 7bass all on the strike king half shell drop shot with about a 16” leader found the fishing over all tough Stayed around the Cottonwood area.

Fished the Cottowood area slow tapered points with softball size rock. Try different retrieves of the jig .

Fish are moving back in the spawning coves, and also staging on secondary points. They are really finnicky in the clear water, long casts, light line, finesse 3" baits are the way to go.
