Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationTough day of fishing! We ended up with 5 fish for 12 and half pounds. All but one of our keepers came off a weed line. We fished 7-14 foot of water. Bites were few and far between but when they hit the craw they jolted the rod every time. Hardest fighting fish this year so far.

Largemouth BassTechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReedsThe reeds haven't fully surface but some where, I would make a cast towards the shot and slowly work the frog with a walking the dog action.

WalleyeTechniqueHover/Mid-StrollingSeasonSummerStructureBaitfishThe walleye have moved out over the basin and are chasing bait. I was fishing in 35-40 FOW and the fish were 10-25 feet down. I would spot a big mark on Livescope, cast at it and slowly twitch the bait back over their head. Keeping the bait above the fish was key. I caught one 28” walleye, a bunch of 15-19” walleye, and a 36” northern.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesSlow retrieves through brush piles. If it gets hung up rip it through the weeds. The largemouth bass will usually attack it once it gets ripped out.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueDamiki RigSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationSmallmouth and largemouth are both out on the weed edges. Caught several 18+” smallies shaking a minnow over their heads. Most of the largemouth have been coming on Texas rigged craws.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationFished the 2023 Badger State Kayak Championship on Saturday June 23. Figuring out the bite was a little challenging at first. Caught LM bass in the weeds on a frog and the zoom speed worm early in the day, but both were small. Then went to weed edges with a square bill in sexy shad colors and caught a few more. Then went right into the thick of the weeds with a Texas rigged zoom speed worm with 1/4 ounce tungsten weight, 15# fluorocarbon leader, 30# powerpro braid, on a Shimano curado K, omen black casting rod and started catching some quality LM. Give lake monona a try and go right into the weeds and pitch your worm around. You will not be disappointed. I did lose a few because I should have been using a MH or H action rod

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFishing outside weed edges in 8 to 12 feet of water. Could not get bit flipping anything heavy. Slowed down and tossed a 5/16oz Texas rigged zlinky around the outside weed edges. Took 2nd place with 16.47lbs of large mouth and big bass with a 4.98 large mouth.
