Largemouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationWith the grass dying back on Isles treble hooks are finally an option. I have had great success catching numbers and a couple of decent ones mixed in throwing a shallow jerkbait. Work the bait of over the dying grass with a fairly fast cadence. The fish will either hit in the middle of a pop or on the pause. Otherwise, keep colors natural, perch colors, minnow silvers, etc. Good luck!

Largemouth BassTechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonFallStructureLily PadsGot on a bit of an unexpected frog bite this weekend. The pad fields that were too thick to fish a frog through this summer are now very sparse. These pads were perfect for a popping frog. The fish were concentrated on the pads and if you can find pads with laydowns nearby that was even better. Besides location, fish the frog just like you would during the summer. For more info on how I do that check out my other Lake of the Isles fishing report on summer frogging. Take advantage of this bite while you can it will be gone quick!

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFocus on the Texas rig, you are going to want to fish it around submerged vegetation as well as a couple of feet away from the lines of pads running along the bank. When picking a weight you are going to want to run smaller, because the slow fall is usually when you get bit. Try different plastics, senkos, creature baits, anything in the ballpark of 4-6 inches long.

Largemouth BassTechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFishing a frog on the edges of thick mats and over vegetation that has just topped out has been extremely productive. It has caught numbers and really good size, with a 4lb 5ounce kicker fish last week. Both walking and popping style frogs have worked well. All bites have come during typical topwater scenarios. Early morning or dusk, with low wind has been the ticket. Work the frog slow with long pauses in between twitches thats usually when they eat it.

Largemouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged Vegetationfound some good fish along the weed edges in 10-16 feet of water pitching a drop shot. Nose hooking a Hula Stick with about a 12" lead on above the weight.

Largemouth BassTechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationAnother solid tournament finish fishing the deep diving DT10 in a bluegill pattern ripping it through and around outside edges. When the Crankbait bite would slow I’d follow up with a Texas rigged green pumpkin power worm from Berkley. In one day I boated over a dozen largemouth 2 of them measuring in at a hefty 18.5”.
