Largemouth BassTechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonWinterStructureRip RapCatching fish on a buzzbait and spinnerbait along chunk rock banks. Look for steeper banks with shade on them. Water is still warm even though the air temps are getting cold.

Largemouth BassTechniqueUmbrella RigsSeasonWinterStructurePointsFinished out my 13.5lb limit with the a-rig on brush piles. I would slow roll the a-rig over the top of the pile and hang on because the fish were smoking it. I also caught some just fishing a bank that looked right with a little bit of a mud line. Kept the bait just under the surface because it was shallow and slow rolled it just parallel to the dingy water that was stirred up from some wind. Caught 4 keepers with a couple culls doing this in a short amount of time. I put two 1/8 oz heads on the bottom wires of the rig and one 1/16 oz on the middle wire. I think this helps to get the bait to spin to the right orientation in the water quicker. Also you can run one different color swimbait to draw more bites but I would put it on the center wire which always has a hook.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonWinterStructureBaitfishI was working channel swing banks with big rock and catching them on this rainy overcast day with the Smithwick rattling rogue with custom paint jobs by “ Uncle”Frank Scalish. The bite was good early and slowed by 9 then picked back up later in the day. I would cover water and once you get a bite slow down and pick that area apart because multiple bites would come in small areas.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTubesSeasonWinterStructureRip RapThe bass were very sluggish in the snow. Our best bites came toward the back of creek arms on channel swing banks. Best bite involved dragging jigs or tubes on chunk rock in 10'-15' of water. The crappie bite was also good in same areas on the back of some of the docks. The crappie were Biting bobby Garland jigs.

Largemouth BassTechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonWinterStructureDocksCaught a bunch of nice fish around boat docks with a finesse jig. Docks with rock around or under the dock seemed to be the best. Docks also had to have bait under them. Work the jig slowly along the bottom.

Species
CrappieTechniqueCrappie Sniping (Casting/Single Poling)SeasonWinterStructureBrush PilesFocused on bluff walls and channel swing banks that had brush in 25-30 feet of water. Used a variety of plastics and colors. Bigger fish seemed to be in smaller groups in open water and smaller fish were in big schools right near the brush.
