Largemouth Bass
TechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksThe fishing for numbers is amazing right now. Look near spawning pockets and pick your favorite ways to fish because you can catch them. Bucks are guarding fry and you pick up the occasional big bite. Back corners of docks, around the walkways, cables, sides of the docks. You can pretty much hit anything that looks good 8 foot or less of water. If you want bigger bites I would focus on that 8-14ft trying to get a reaction strike.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Large)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructurePointsThis 734c is the best all around rod from dobyns. If you want a little bit slower tip go with the Sierra. If you prefer a little faster action go with the champ xp. Look for secondary’s near spawning pockets with mixed rock on them and slow roll this swimbait ticking the bottom. You could also do the same thing in these same areas with a wobble head. You could run the wobble head on the same rod reel line combo.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureBouldersTook 2nd place in a little club derby throwing a floating worm and chatter bait on spawning flats. Sight fishing was tough due to being overcast plus stained water but was able to pick up a 4.68 and 3.45. Plenty of males on beds but didn’t see many females yet.

Crappie
TechniqueCrappie Sniping (Casting/Single Poling)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureDocksFound smaller males up on the banks in good numbers, larger females are still out deeper staging. Caught males casting to pea gravel banks. Females could be caught shooting docks under floats or could be found out roaming with FFS. Darker colors seemed to work the best for the mid lake area we were in.
