TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFor whatever reason today I caught every single fish out of eel grass… not normally the case, but was just pitching a craw tube around in and out of the weed edge. Couldn’t get but in milfoil or coontail, all the fish came out of the eel grass, try to focus time on the outside weed edge with access to deeper nearby water!

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueGrass JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThe bass were relating to small openings or edges of the weed line that had rock bottom, they weren’t out over sand or on the edge the bottom had to be rock, so focus on those transition areas, and don’t be afraid to fire that jig into the grass and pop it out, can get crazy reaction strikes that way!

Smallmouth Bass
TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationWith the river being so low finding backwater areas with current were key. We found a sand bar with scattered grass that had lots of smallmouth and largemouth feeding on 1-2 inch shad. We were able to catch them on the back side of the sandbar with a ned rig and then targeted feeding fish on top with a mini max chatterbait.

TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructurePointsHeavy rain all morning, had to fish very slowly, bass wouldn’t touch moving baits, threw the senko out over sand points and fished very slowly allowing sink time, and time for the bait to just sit on bottom. Don’t be in a rush when you know fish are around, downsize or finesse tactics got it done for me today!

TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSummerStructureLaydownsGet out early! Had lots of fish activity, but they were not hitting any moving baits, tried some jigs and Texas rigs with no bites. Switched to the cover pop and worked it very slow pausing every couple feet as it walked back and fourth(note this is a popper, but when worked correctly it also walks back and fourth creating the ability to move it in the strike zone for a longer time). Started getting fish swirling on it, eventually they started hammering it with big topwater explosions! Good luck all!

TechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonSummerStructureRip RapWas targeting Rip Rap and wing dams, also caught a few on a ned rig.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueGrass JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationLow light and dirty water, grab a black/blue, black/purple jig! All my fish came on the outkast tackle stealth feider jig in black/purple. Dragging this jig around scattered vegetation and snapping out of the grass line was the trick today to trigger those strikes!
