Smallmouth BassTechniqueFootball JigsSeasonSummerStructureRock Pile7/29/22 water temperature 76. Fishing offshore rockpile transition areas. Depth was 7 to 12 ft. Fished a 3/8oz. All terrain jig with a zoom speed craw both in green pumpkin. Also fished a netbait 2 1/2 in. tube in the same color. We used an orange spike-it marker to accent these baits. A slow retrieve with several intermittent quick turns of the handle triggered the bites.

6/25 - 6/26: The offshore bite was a little tough. 30 mph wind gusts had the east side of the lake rolling. The bite had key windows in between the fronts. Just before a front would arrive the smallies would fire up, and immediately after the front with long lulls inbetween. The fish we did catch were quality and you could see large schools, it was very difficult to keep them fired up.

Fished a variety of baits but a 4 " chompers twin tail on a 5/16 oz. head was easily the best bait of the day. Adding orange highlights with a spike-it marker seemed to make a difference.
