The smallmouth are staging to spawn on rock piles. Locate your rock piles and set up accordingly based on water clarity. I was having to cast 40 feet past to rip the Jerkbait down to them because they were glue to the bottom. Aggressive retrieval with short pauses worked best.

Thats a THICK ONE ☝🏼 Been absolutely slaying the smallmouth bass out on lake st Clair lately. The big ones are chewing already and we’re catching numbers, last week we had multiple 100 fish days. Throwing swimbaits and tubes

Just enough to make contact with bottom without dragging.

Morning bite was extremely slow, but it picked up significantly around noon. The water around the mouth of the Clinton River was completely blown out due to all the recent rains. Once you got away from the river, the water clarity was very, very good. Ended the day with 26 total, but I spent quite a bit of my day graphing around to get ready for a couple trips this upcoming weekend.
