TechniqueTubesSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationThe post spawn has the smallmouth bass moving to deeper water and scattered across the lake as they roam the weedlines and rock piles in search of cover and ambush points for their prey. Air temps were in the low 60s early morning, moving to 70s in the day. Water temps were low 60s at the catch locations. We found them in Anchor Bay in around 12-14FOW. Dragging tubes worked well, but so did swimbaits slow rolled deep. Colors that produced for the tubes were green pumpkin and the swimbaits were smallmouth magic. Once you find them, spot lock or anchor and just keep casting away. If you’re drifting, make several passes before moving on. Tight lines!

TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksWith the winds pushing us off the main lake, we turned into the local canals to get to safety and refuge from the winds beating us down. We began hitting sea walls and docks with senkos wacky rigged and it was on! The water clarity was stained to clear, but along weedlines and pitching under docks, the wacky rig got bit over and over again when the flash of spinners wasn’t working.
