Caught smallies from March 20th-May 20th in a few different areas around St Clair. We focused on finding trenches and rocks, those would hold smallies. Most fish were caught on jerk baits but some ned rig and swimbait was used as well. Typical pre-spawn/spawn baits. Season is about to open for tournaments, looking forward to the summer bite as the fish move off shore and get away from the pressure.

While the mayfly/fish fly hatch may have some scratching their heads as to how to get the bass to bite while they’re gorging themselves on natures bounty, we were throwing wacky rigs from the shoreline at first light and early morning to get on that feeding frenzy bite!
