I fished the lake on 06/04/22 for the last north region event of the Bass Champs TX tournament trail. It was partly cloudy all day with outside temperatures starting in the upper 60’s and reaching the high 80’s by the end of the day. Water temperatures on the lake ranged from 74 degrees up to 81 degrees, and water visibility ranged from 4 inches of visibility to about a foot and a half of visibility depending on where you were on the lake. We started the morning on the dam and we’re able to catch 2 solid fish close to 5 pounds. After that, we scrambled around until we found a key stretch of docks in 3-6 feet of water and were able to catch them flipping a jig on the docks late in the day. We ended up falling short of a limit this time by 1 fish but our 4 keepers went 18.37 pounds which was good enough for 22nd place out of 200 teams and a small check. It was a grind as we only had probably 7 bites all day but most of them were the right ones. If you want to get on some good fish, get out to T-wak and flip some docks! The water temperatures on the lake ranged from 76-83 degrees and the water clarity ranged from about a foot and a half of visibility at the clearest, to about 6 inches of visibility at the dirtiest. It was a partly cloudy day with outside temperatures starting out in the 60's and working up to about 85 degrees by the end of the day, with pre-frontal conditions as a storm blew in later that night after the tournament was over. In the morning, we concentrated on rip rap and seawall banks with docks utilizing a popper and a chatterbait to take advantage of the shad spawn and put some bass in the boat, including the nice 3 pounder I have pictured with the report. After the shad spawn died, we spent the rest of the day throwing chatterbaits, frogs, swim jigs, and jigs into flooded brush and underneath docks, and were able to get a pretty consistent amount of bites doing so all day long. Shallow junk fishing was the name of the game. Unfortunately, several of the biggest fish we had bite came off, so we only ended up weighing in 4 keepers for 9.76 pounds in the tournament, which got us 55th place out of 192 teams. However, with what we caught and what we had bite, we should have had around 15 pounds and been inside the top 15. Overall, it was a fun day although it was a grind, as we had around 12 bites total throughout the day. The lake has been fishing tough, but they are still out there and they are still eating, so get out on the water and give it a try. Everything we caught was in less than 5 feet of water, as there is a lot of good flooded cover in the lake right now keeping the fish shallower. Thank you all for reading my reports and tight lines!

I went out to the lake with a buddy on 04/05/22. The water temperature on the lake that day ranged anywhere from 62 to 68 degrees, and the water clarity ranged anywhere from a few inches of visibility to a foot of visibility. Air temperatures that day were approaching 80 degrees and there was a mild south wind, with sunny skies throughout the day. We spent the day targeting laydowns and brush along the bank with spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, focusing on the back half or third of pockets or creek arms with some stain to the water. Overall, we had a good day, catching decent numbers and our biggest 5 would have went somewhere between 17 and 18 pounds, including a 5 pound 8 ounce kicker (pictured below)! Keeping a slow steady retrieve with twitches about every ten rotations, my brother and I were able to catch a few off of some points reeling into shallow water.
