TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesFirst trip using the new Mustad Alpha Grip finesse hook and I am very impressed! Hook up ratio with this hook is fantastic and rigging worms is very easy. Pairing it with a Missile Baits Magic Worm, it’s become a staple in my drop shot arsenal. Fishing mainly brush piles and even pulled out this 5lb chunk on the new hook. If you’re looking for a new hook to try, pick up some of these new Mustads and keep those fish pinned!

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesDuring this fishing trip, we dominated with the Missile Baits Magic worm. That was paired with the Mustad alpha point finesse hook on a drop shot. Starting to really notice the hook up ratio is becoming better and better. Compared to other brands, Mustad has truly improved with this Alpha Point series!

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Large)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureDocksI’m finally getting into the magdraft bite! The best way I’m fishing this bait is by putting the magdraft in every part of the dock that I am fishing. If there is some water between some docks try and parallel the best you can with the bank then chunk n wind.

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Large)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureDocksIt’s that time of year! Some of the better fish are moving up to the shallows and starting to eat. For me the magdraft was my main bait by fishing it around any cover I could put it. Paired with the Megabass Orochi XX Perfect Pitch, it is the best rod for the 6” magdraft. As well as trying out the new Shimano Mastiff Fluorocarbon. I used 18lb test and it done wonders fishing wood, rock, grass, etc. I had a bass take off with my Magdraft and rubbed against a metal beam underwater and was still able to get the fish out with little to no issues. If you’re looking for new line to try out, be sure to pick up a spool or two of the Shimano Mastiff. Good luck out there and catch em up!

TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonWinterStructureBrush PilesThe fish were absolutely chewing during this trip. The main techniques were vertical jigging and throwing a jerkbait. For the vertical jigging, I was focusing the deeper brush piles between 25-40 ft of water, as well as small wolf packs of bass suspended in the water. This technique I was fishing a bit more aggressive than I would normally, by jigging the bait in place and stopping it above the brush then would cause the reaction strike from those fish. The jerkbait caught most of the fish in between 8-20 ft of water. The fish were very aggressive when it came to a jerkbait so I wouldn’t pause the bait as much as other people would (2-3 seconds at most) majority of fish hit it while I jerked the bait over their heads and came unglued. If you have livescope, this will help you indicate what the fish’s behavior is so adjust your presentation accordingly. Good luck guys and gals. TIGHT LINES!

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonFallStructureBrush PilesTry and find the breaks where the bass can find deep water close by. Majority of the fish I saw were running the steeper banks. If you can find some brush piles and or rock piles near the steep banks you can find bass. I highly recommend the new Magic Worm for anyone who wanted to up their drop shot game.
