Was fishing a silt bottom with a ton of snot grass on the bottom SO i wasn't grinding the squarebill on the bottom like normal. I would burn it, and the kill the retrieve, or would pop the rod tip 12-16in during the retrieve in an attempt to create a "deflection" similar to what you would get deflecting it off a rock. Caught 3 bass in a rather short time. Largest at about 2lbs

With the water temps starting to come down the fish are staring to transition more shallow and are targeting this years bait spawn. Since this a smaller body of water, the transition is a little further along than what the Chain is. The reduced size of the JR. vs the full size matches the size of the bait better. I am targeting pockets, points, current breaks, and looking for where shad bust on the surface and target casting. Intermittent pauses and varying walking speeds can cause a fish that would otherwise follow to react and strike.
