TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureRip RapFinesse jig was still the bait of choice( Threw spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, full-size jigs, and a shakeyhead as well). They are staging off the bank a little bit chasing bluegills that are on bed. Didn't catch anything of real size.

TechniqueStructure JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureRip RapI got out for an afternoon fishing session. The bite was a bit tougher this week, which I think could be attributed to the storms we had roll through the area the past week. A Finesse Jig and Pitching jig were my most productive baits over a spinnerbait, lipless, or chatterbait. When casting up onto rip rap banks the finesse jig seemed to be the bait. when targeting the drop-offs dragging along the weedlines or fishing docks the heavier pitching jig seemed to produce more bites. overall I boated around 5-7 or so fish, lost another 3lber at the boat on a botched net job.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureRip RapThe finesse jig is still working. I haven't seen any beds yet for early spawners, but the fish are most definitely up shallow. I only had about 4 hours to fish and boated around 10 or so bass. Most being in the 1-1.5lb range and a couple that were 2lbs or so +. The weeds are starting to grow up so casting the the bank and dragging it up to the weedline is what yielded the most bites.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonSummerStructurePointsSlow retrieval over grass, parallel to the bank, and across points. Intermittent pauses has got me couple additional strikes.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRip RapTargeting rocky rip rap banks. The water is too cold for spawning, but the fiah are definetly moving up. I was slowly dragging the jig along the rocks. The lighter the jig, the better. I was utilizing a BFS setup casting a 1/8 oz jig. Caught probably 20+ bass with most being in the 1lb range, a handful of 2-3lbers and the 5lber in the photo. Was a great fight on the bfs setup!

TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSummerStructureOpen Water/BasinWas fishing a silt bottom with a ton of snot grass on the bottom SO i wasn't grinding the squarebill on the bottom like normal. I would burn it, and the kill the retrieve, or would pop the rod tip 12-16in during the retrieve in an attempt to create a "deflection" similar to what you would get deflecting it off a rock. Caught 3 bass in a rather short time. Largest at about 2lbs

TechniqueBlade BaitsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructurePointsWater temps were still pretty cold, tried to force some moving baits but found the most success yo-yo-ing a blade bait off of points in deeper water.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonFallStructureShadWith the water temps starting to come down the fish are staring to transition more shallow and are targeting this years bait spawn. Since this a smaller body of water, the transition is a little further along than what the Chain is. The reduced size of the JR. vs the full size matches the size of the bait better. I am targeting pockets, points, current breaks, and looking for where shad bust on the surface and target casting. Intermittent pauses and varying walking speeds can cause a fish that would otherwise follow to react and strike.
