TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSummerStructurePointsFishing for Smallmouth was tough for us over the 4th. We were met with hot, bluebird and calm days which made the shallow bite for us pretty slow. Our best bites seemed to be when we were chasing what little bit of wind we had and fishing a squarebill crankbait on main lake points banging it off the rocks. Certain points would be loaded with fish. The Mayfly hatch was pretty much wrapped up but a Midge hatch was underway - I'm not sure if that affects the Smallmouth fishing at all though.
