Had best luck on dig boulder stretching out off points with a jerk bait and caught walleyes in the entrance into pikes bay throwing 1/4 once under spin with a swim bait in 4-7 feet of water every evening . Great time for first trip to this body of water .

Shorelines with docks and cleaner water. Some wind is good. The Marabou jig was the ticket, slowly reeling back after casting near docks or right next to shore in inches of water. Good luck!

We fished the East Side of the lake over Memorial Weekend. The water temps in the main lake averaged 58 degrees with some shallower bays reading up to 62 degrees. We found the bite to be pretty tough in the main lake with the exception of a few spawning fish caught while blind casting shorelines. We switched tactics and focused on chasing the warmer water and the bite seemed to improve. This was my first time throwing finesse hair jigs on Vermilion but I'm sold! Smallies seemed to really like that bait on a slow steady retrieve. The Jerkbait also produced (which it normally does early in the season up there) fish, as well as a paddletail while covering water.
