TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureFlooded BrushI targeted Bass yesterday from shore using waders. I didn’t see any bass. The pike bite was hot from 5:45-6:30. I spotted 7 crawfish carcass in 3-4ft of depth between reed beds. This could give us an idea of chosen forage. My next outing will include artificial crawfish presentations. More to come.

TechniqueSoft JerkbaitsSeasonSummerStructureReedsNorthern pike are getting finicky. The Zoom Fluke still rules the day with another 26” fish at dusk last night. Bass aren’t touching the Zoom Fluke so next week, I will commit to a change in tactics even if. That means 0 fish. It’s time to target Bass. The challenge there will be that nature is providing plenty of feed.

Plastics are hardly cutting it here. I did manage 1 northern pike while targeting bass. And the sunset was beautiful.

These may be females off the nest. The bass are hugging the reeds where many small bluegill and carp minnows are harboring. algae is blooming and beginning to surface in very small pockets. I'll begin targeting bass very early mornings beginning 5/27 and I'll have an update then.
